Joy Cones

Task

Redesign the existing packaging of Joy Waffle Cones to intrigue consumers and stand out on supermarket shelves.

Moodboards

When studying the original packaging of Joy Waffle Cones, I had multiple ideas come to my head on how to update the box and make it stand out amongst competitors. I was interested in seeing which concept between the three below would lead to a stronger design.

Sketches

Still undecided about which concept to move forward with, I created five sketches for each. I would then pick what I felt was the strongest from each to build digitally.

Reflection

I’m really happy with how the packaging for Joy Waffle Cones turned out. I was unclear who I wanted for a target audience and although children would be the obvious choice, I didn’t want the box to signal that the product was only for children. The colors and play on the box being a cone itself have a youthful touch and the simple box with the cone crafted out of type brings forth an adult audience and adds a bit of a twist to the packaging.
